Amalthea ’16 hosts the second edition of Symposium, a step forward towards realizing its vision - ‘Spreading Knowledge’. Symposium provides a platform for research scholars and technology enthusiasts, with common interests and passions, to share and discuss their research. The audience is invited to present their research and find mentors in the speakers.
This edition of Symposium focuses on ‘Technologies in Defence and Internal Security’, a field where constant technological advancement is the need of the hour. In this Symposium, we seek to address the multifaceted issues and technologies that are associated with our country’s defence frontier, bringing together multiple disciplines and seeking out answers by marrying industry with academic pursuits.
Shri Amitav Mallik is the founder director of the Laser Science and Technology Center (LASTEC), Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). He is an advisor to the National Security Advisory Board of India and a former advisor of Defence Technology at the Embassy of India in Washington DC. Mallik was honored by the Government of India, in 2002, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.
Vijay Kumar Saraswat is an Indian scientist who formerly served as the Director General of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Chief Scientific Advisor to the Indian Minister of Defence. He retired on 31 May 2013 and presently Member of NITI Aayog i.e. Planning Commission of India.
C. D. Balaji has specialised in the Naval Aviation Arm of the Indian Navy. He has served as the Air Engineer Officer of INAS 310 (Alize aircraft) for about 3 years. With a BE in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru, he has served in various capacities in both the Marine and Aviation technical related jobs in the Indian Navy. He has served as Station Air Engineer Officer (SAEO) of INS Hansa, a premier Naval Air Station. He has also served as a Senior Instructor at Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology (NIAT), Kochi that trains Officers and Sailors for Naval Aviation. He was responsible for obtaining the necessary Govt. sanction for the LCA(Navy) Programme in Mar 2003.
Gen Dhruv is a Former Director of CLAWS. He has a vast experience in sub conventional conflict, having taken part in IPKF operations in Sri Lanka as also operations against terrorists and insurgents in J&K and various states of North East India. He was awarded the Sena Medal while in command of his battalion in active operations on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
Vidit is a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist and a Microsoft Certified Professional and is an expert in handling server side operations based on the windows platform. As a Certified Ethical Hacker, he is an ideal to many young students in India who take up security as their career objective and a motivation to those who see and understand IT Security and its needs.
